Two
years ago, the Alabama State Council on the Arts had a grand idea.
Is it possible to produce a quality historical documentary focusing
on Alabama's diverse arts world, past and present? Our answer was
a resounding "Yes!" Now, producers Carolyn Hales and Michele Forman
have crafted a documentary which should make all of us proud of
the State's rich arts heritage.
We convinced the Council that we could shed new
light on the artists across the state by using a new medium -- high
definition television. This will be the first major documentary
produced in HDTV for air across Alabama. This meant using a new
wide screen camera format that is 33% wider than our present TV
screen. Our videographers quickly fell in love with the new format
and the incredible images provided by our new Sony HDCAM. High Definition
is a part of the future of television and perhaps the motion picture
industry. In the next few years, lower priced high definition television
sets will roll out and allow you to experience crystal-clear pictures
and digital surround-sound vastly superior to our present analog
television sets.
